When someone asks me to describe the painting style of my florals, three things come to mind: Bursts of color, a sparkling effect caused by juxtapositioning cool over hot and a dance of floral forms with movement and energy created by lively brush strokes arranged in a painterly fashion. These elements are created in a way that poses an exciting interplay of leaves, petals, grasses and background that all sound a chord in a grand symphony of nature. The forground builds to a crescendo of color and movement. The middle ground settles you down a bit and the background allows you to rest and enjoy the experience in a place of serenity and tranquility. Rather than painting tightly manicured gardens, I prefer to paint flowers that have the freedom to reach for the sky and expose their lush color and form in all their glory. To me, my paintings are an eternal reminder of spring, new growth and new beginnings.
